John S. Garner recently joined the Fowler, Rodriguez, Valdes-Fauli Law Firm bringing with him over ten years of litigation experience. Mr. Garner specializes in a variety of disputes under general maritime law including premise liability and insurance defense and handling property damage and personal injury claims under the LHWCA and Jones Act. 
 
Mr. Garner is a retired Naval Officer and licensed merchant mariner with a NROTC graduate degree from Northwestern University. After graduating he joined the Navy where he gained significant expertise in ship handling and navigation. He qualified as an officer of the deck, engineering officer, and served as a mine-hunting officer during the first live mine hunting operation since World War II in the Persian Gulf. After several years of duty Mr. Garner came to New Orleans as a staff officer for the Commander of the Naval Surface Reserve Force. During that tour he began assisting the Naval Judge Advocate General with legal assignments and casualty investigations.
 
After completing his terms in the Navy Mr. Garner received his J.D. degree from University of Wisconsin and then obtained his L.L.M in Admiralty from Tulane University. He then clerked for the Honorable Bruce Black (D.N.M) prior to settling in the Gulf Coast where he now resides with his family. Mr. Garner is admitted to the Federal State Courts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Wisconsin, and New Mexico.
